Your US specialty, recognized in Syria. One step at a time.
A free guide from Syrian doctors in the US who are going through it right now. Answer a few questions, get a checklist made for you, and tick it off at your own pace.
The journey
Plan for about 9 months from start to finish.
How it works
Answer a few questions
Steps that don't apply to you get out of the way.
Tick off your list
Your progress is saved on this device. No account, no sign-up.
Know what's certain
Every step says if it's official, reported by doctors, or still unclear.
This guide is for you if
- You graduated from a Syrian medical school, or were registered with the Syrian Physicians Syndicate (نقابة الأطباء) before
- You did your residency, fellowship or board certification in the US
Not covered yet
Graduates of medical schools outside Syria. The Board asks them for an extra decision from the Ministry of Higher Education, and we don't know yet how to get it from the US, because nobody in our group has done it. The specialty steps still apply.
Advice from doctors who've done it
Start with your passport
Make sure it is valid and spelled exactly like your certificates.
Notarize everything
Even documents that may not need it, so nobody can delay your file on a technicality.
Make two sets
Get at least 2 authenticated copies of your key documents, and scan every stamp and translation.
Check the notary's wording
One missing line sent documents back and cost weeks.
Do both specialties at once
Your core specialty and subspecialty can go through the chain together.
Translate in Damascus
It costs far less than in the US.
